The Alaska moose (Alces alces) is one of the most iconic mammals in Alaska. Alaska has over 175,000 moose distributed throughout most of the state. Adult moose can range in size from a small female at 800 pounds up to a mature male at 1600 pounds and they can be an intimidating 6 feet tall. While a newborn moose calf is quite cute, most Alaskan residents understand that moose can be more dangerous than a bear.
My selection of Alaska moose pictures I’ve been taking in all four seasons and consists of bull moose in the rut season (September & October), new born moose calves, cow and calf moose together as well as the bull moose with velvet antlers.
