With a population of over 30,000 bald eagles, Alaska is one of the last strongholds of this majestic bird. It’s difficult to visit Alaska and not see a bald eagle. I have been fortunate to photograph bald eagles in many parts of the state.
I truly enjoy the early winter gathering of thousands of the birds in the Chilkat Bald Eagle preserve in Haines, Alaska. Combine the huge count of Alaska bald eagles with the over 450 other species of birds and it’s easy to understand why Alaska attract so many birders. This photo gallery of Alaska’s birds contains just a small sampling of what the state of Alaska has to offer.
